The ten-year anniversary of the L’Atelier brand is this year and at the 2022 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show, Tatuaje Cigars unveiled the L’Atelier Racine ERB.
ERB stands for Extension Racine Britanicas. It uses the same blend as the L’Atelier Extension de la Racine blend that was first introduced in 2022 and has primarily been used as a Trade Show exclusive. “Extension de la Racine” stands for “extension of the root” and that is because it is an offshoot of the original L’Atelier line. Britanicas is because the size is a Britanicas Extra, something that has been used for limited and special releases – including this year for Cabaiguan and Surrogates. This is the first release in the Racine line in five years.
L’Atelier Racine ERB features a Nicaraguan Sun Grown Criollo ’98 wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. Sancti Spirtus tobacco is always a staple of the L’Atelier branded cigars and the Racine blend is no exception as it uses it in the binder and filler. The cigars come packaged in 20-count boxes limited to 500 boxes.
Surrogates is a brand that actually is a little older than ten years. It was originally a shop exclusive to New Havana Cigars. In 2012, when Pete Johnson, K.C. Johnson, and Dan Welsh formed L’Atelier Imports, Surrogates was brought in as a brand under L’Atelier and released nationally. In 2018, Tatuaje and L’Atelier merged and Surrogates now is a brand under Tatuaje.
