Best Drinks To Go With Your Cigar

Smoking a cigar is pleasurable enough and yet I do believe that pairing a cigar with a great drink adds to the whole experience. Tell me, what do you drink with your cigar? If you have not found the perfect match as of yet, let me share some of the best drinks that you can try while smoking your favorite cigar.

Coffee
When I say coffee, I mean all things coffee. There are all sorts of coffee drinks today, some non-alcoholic, some alcoholic. I think that any coffee drink will match most cigars. Take your pick – café latte, café mocha, Cuban coffee, Irish coffee. All these will go perfectly with a nice smoke.

Porto
If you are wondering what porto is, it is a kind of wine, more commonly known as port. It is a Portuguese wine which normally considered sweet but also comes in dry and semi-dry. Any kind of porto would match most kinds of cigars but if you want a great experience, I suggest getting a bottle of late bottled vintage. Vintage would be the best, to be honest, but it is quite expensive and once the bottle is opened, you have to finish the whole thing off.

Kahlua
I love Kahlua – even without cigars. Their drinks have various flavors and if you prefer variety, the line of Kahlua drinks would be perfect. The same thing applies if you are looking for a good drink to go with your cigar. Just go to your local liquor store or even at the supermarket and you can easily take your pick.

Cuban Cigar Humidor Launched

A humidor is an essential item in the cigar lover’s arsenal. A humidor is quite important in keeping cigars in good quality for long periods of time. For the casual cigar smoker, a humidor may not be that necessary but for the person who regularly smokes cigars and who keeps his own stash, then being without one would be akin to wasting cigars. There are a lot of humidors for sale in the market. Some are on the more affordable end while others are on the more expensive end. Some are more practical while others more exotic.

Speaking of high quality and exotic humidors, there is a new humidor being launched into the international market from Cuba. Dubbed the Antiguo humidor, this product comes from the Romeo y Julieta brand. This specialty humidor was actually presented to the world in February of this year during the Tenth Havana Cigar Festival.

(An aside, this festival is considered to be the biggest cigar festival in the world. Technically, Americans are not supposed to go to Cuba for such events but somehow, some people find their way to it.)

So back to the Antiguo humidor. This baby is going to be made of cedar and mahogany by no less than Ernesto Aguilera, the famous Cuban goldsmith. More than the humidor itself, though, the package to be sold in the market will include 250 Romeo y Julieta cigars. I could not find the pricing of the product just yet but with the quality, brand, and included cigars, I am sure that we should expect to pay a considerable sum for this humidor.

Of Cigar Cuts And Cutters

There is nothing like the sight and smell of a fresh cigar to excite a cigar lover’s senses, is there? However, you know very well that you do not simply smoke a cigar immediately. One of the first things that you have to do is to cut the cap of the cigar. Cigar cutters are one of the most important accessories for cigar lovers. For those who are not very familiar with them, there are three general types of cigar cutters. Let us take a look at them.

Straight cigar cutters
As the name implies, cigar cutters of this type make a straight, clean cut. The most common type of straight cigar cutter is the guillotine. It could be either single blade or straight blade. Guillotines are preferred by many smokers because they are very affordable and can be carried around very conveniently.

Wedge cigar cutters
These cigar cutters are also called “V” cutters. Again, as the name implies, this group of cigar cutters make a wedge on the cap of the cigar. This is as opposed to the straight cut that guillotine cutters make.

Hole punch cutters
Instead of cutting the cap totally off like straight cigar cutters do and instead of making a wedge on the cigar like v cutters do, hole punch cutters make a hole in the cap of the cigar. An important thing to remember when using hole punch cutters – make sure that the hole is large enough. Otherwise, you might have problems with the draw.
