When it comes to cigars, the Cubans perhaps hold the highest status. Yet it does not mean that one cannot find cigars of excellent quality and with their own unique flavor from other parts of the world. Though not many may know, the Philippines in Asia offers some world class cigars. The cigar industry in the country has been around since the Spanish times – which was hundreds of years ago – but has suffered a long decline. It was only recently when the country’s premier cigar company, La Flor de la Isabela, changed leadership that the cigar industry started to come back to life.
The oldest and perhaps the most popular brand of Philippine cigars is the Tabacalera. Kabayan Central describes the Tabacalera as:
Flavour
• mild and light in the body and flavour
• extremely easy smoke, very approachable
• very unique flavour, stays mild from start to finish with no bitterness
• a good day-time cigarAroma
• light
• floral in nature
• easy to take, like a cool spring breezeAftertaste
• light and non-offensive
• with a subtle taste of grass and woodWrapper
• Java, Indonesia (very popular, used in some of the best cigars)Binder
• PhilippinesFiller
• Isabela, Philippines (Philippine tobacco has the best burning quality of any tobacco in the world and produces a white ash)
Now doesn’t that just make you want to smoke a Tabacalera right now?
