The Déryné Bistro in central Budapest was packed on Monday night, when Continental Cigars officially launched their latest addition to the Essenze Titans line, the Ambrosya Fiftysix. As restaurant personnel carried around trays of tasty mouthfuls, like mini cheese burgers, shrimp tartlets and guacamole, to the loungy beats of a dj, the guests were enjoying the fifth cigar in the young Hungarian company’s portfolio.
Continental Cigars was founded in 2022 and the year after they launched the Essenze Titans line. Besides Ambrosya, it also includes the Enceladus, Titan, Gaia and Zodiaco, some of which were available this night as well.
Peter Fuzi, CEO of Continental Cigars, was very happy and a bit surprised with the outcome.
“It’s amazing that we can fill this place on a Monday night, with just a week of advertising,” he says. “Maybe it’s because we don’t get many chances to smoke indoors in Hungary. From what people have told me they were enjoying themselves as well.”
The cigars come in a nice black Hollohazi porcelain jar picturing the Greek mythological snake, Ouroboros, and the artist herself was present to explain the design.
“Ouroboros symbolizes eternity, but this design is with a modern twist,” Sofiya Urban says. “Usually the snake eats itself in a circle, but here it’s the symbol of eternity, which is more from our time. When it comes to the name, Ambrosya means the food of the gods, but what that actually is, is a mystery. So it could be smoke. After all, whatever people sacrificed to the gods became smoke when they burned it.”
