The next generation is here for Quesada Cigars, as Raquel and Patricia Quesada, the daughters of Manuel “Manolo” Quesada, have assumed ownership of the company.
At Procigar 2024, Manolo Quesada suffered a health scare, which has been reported as falling due to a stroke, resulting in a fracture to the skull. Since then, Manolo has been living in Spain and less involved with the day-to-day operations.
Meanwhile, Patricia Quesada is returning to the company’s day-to-day operations. It was in 2019 when she departed the company to pursue other interests. At the same time, ownership has been fully consolidated within the immediate family of Manolo Quesada. Quesada Cigars was founded by Manolo’s father, Manuel “Manolin” Quesada. When Manolin died, his sons Manolo and Alvaro inherited the company. Alvaro, his son Alvarito, and Julio Fajardo (a close friend and Quesada employee) died tragically in a plane crash. Esther Quesada Bermudez, Alvaro’s daughter, inherited the company. As a part of the transition, 100% of the company returns to the Quesada sisters.
“It has been one of my life’s greatest joys to raise two strong, talented, and passionate daughters, and to see them grow into the exceptional leaders they’ve become,” said Manolo Quesada in a press release. “Passing the leadership of our family business to Raquel and Patricia is the proudest moment of my 60-year career. I look forward to supporting them as they lead Quesada Cigars into the future, continuing our legacy for many years to come.”
“It was never my intention to leave the company because tobacco has always been my true passion, so it was a difficult time for me. However I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and I am grateful for all that brought us to this new chapter. So happy to be back!.” said Patricia Quesada.
Raquel Quesada added: “It is a tremendous honor for both of us to be able to work together to uphold our family’s heritage and to write the next chapter in our story. We are excited to carry forward the tradition, passion, and dedication that defines Quesada Cigars.”
