A Perfect Combination of Cigar and Coffee

aAlthough there is no clear explanation for it, cigar and coffee are known to be a good combination on any given day. Relaxing and soothing, combining both at your favorite coffee hangout seems to be the common way of enjoying finely made tobacco leaves today.

Cigars would come in different flavors such as natural and chocolate flavors. While no one would really understand what the bearing of flavored tobacco would be, the cigar experts would be the best people to ask why. All they get is smoke, but aside from the relaxation, this has become normal for people who have made it a habit to combine both.

Cigar brands such as Tabaqueria de Filipinas, Blue Label, Don Mateo and Don Diego would depend on the avid cigar smoker. With many brands to choose from, everything would seem to be the same. But don’t tell that to the cigar experts who have preference for their own brand to smoke.

Tampa Cigar Maker Aims For The Stars

cigarxHow long is the longest cigar in the world? The last record that I know of was made by Wallace Reyes of the Gonzalez Habano Cigar Company. In November 18, 2006, he rolled a 101feet cigar with a one inch diameter (64 ring gauge). The record-making cigar was created during the annual Cigar Heritage Festival.

Last week, the very same Wallace Reyes started work on another cigar, which he hopes will break the previous record. His target is to roll a cigar which is 180 feet in length. USA Today tells us the story behind his goal:

“We gonna show Tampa and the world basically that this is still (the) cigar capital of the world, that we’re still making big things here,” Reyes said.

A 180-foot cigar would shatter the old world record by more than 35-feet. Reyes says it will take him 30 pounds of tobacco and more than 100-hours of work to finish his cigar. He is making his record setting cigar in 10-foot sections at the Ybor City Museum and it will be assembled and displayed on November 21st at the Tampa Cigar Heritage Festival.

Same person, same place, same festival. Would he break his record? Reyes says that they do not have the facilities to create the cigar all in one go. As such, he has to work on one segment at a time. The whole cigar will then be assembled in less than a month. All that work on one cigar! I bet that when he breaks the record, it will be all worth it!

A Cigar for Status Symbol

What makes cigars different from the usual cigarettes that people would buy from the local store? For one, cigars carry a more social type of a tag where people would be considered elite and indifferent from standard smokers that are present in communities today.

Cigars have had the distinction of being entirely finely prepared and becoming more identified with people who put premium in puffing the quality manufactured tobaccos that are best known for manual labor preparations. People usually pair them with coffee or smoke them during special events such as newly born babies and parties. They are also offered to guests in corporate offices, mostly coming from the corporate offices of top honchos of large scale corporations.

Cigarettes are normally purchased for people who have become addicted to it. Besides the obvious difference is size, cigars hold a more prestigious billing once they are seen being lit anywhere. Some would call it a waste of money, but for others, it is a for of identified status symbol, something that is important for people who want to be identified in the world today.
